Benno Penner

Penner was born in Dresden in Germany in 1927.

He worked in Glasgow and later at the hostels in Liverpool and Singleton Road in Manchester. One of the Boys, Mayer Hersch, remembered “the love and devotion of the staff” including Penner at the hostel in Manchester.

He married Ruth Spier, who also worked with the Boys, and together they emigrated to Israel. He later changed his name to Isschar Ben-David.
