Little is known of the life of Nathan Wald.
Wald’s parents were Fela and Dawid and he was born in Grudziadz, a town in northern Poland, between 1927 and 1930. Most of the town’s population were German as before the First World War it had been part of German East Prussia.
German forces entered Grudziadz on 3 September 1939. Most of the Jews left Grudziadz before the Nazis arrived. Those who remained were executed in October 1939.
